Project Methodology

The process of developing a roadmap will be carried out according to the technology roadmapping methodology. This includes a series of stakeholder engagement workshops and nation-wide surveys with the purpose to identify common trends, drivers and challenges in the industry as well as to identify the key impact areas for technology up-take in human settlement, for example, building materials and systems, water supply, energy, etc.

Process map for data collectionThe following workshops are planned to enable maximum stakeholder participation (exact dates and venues to be confirmed):

Gauteng – August 2018

Kwa-Zulu Natal – September 2018

Western Cape – October 2018

The outcome of these workshops, along with data collected from stakeholders via electronic surveys, will be analysed and categorised into clusters. Workshop input will be used to identify gaps and opportunities in each cluster and to develop a framework for implementation under each cluster.

The resultant STI 4 SHS Roadmap will provide a framework for implementation, monitoring and evaluation for the mainstreaming of science, technology and innovation for sustainable human settlements.
